USCG: New Form CG-2692 and CG-2692B – Marine Casualty Reporting

Excerpt from the Coast Guard Maritime Commons posted on 04/18/2018. 

The CG-2692, Report of Marine Casualty, Commercial Diving Casualty, or OCS-Related Casualty, and the CG-2692B, Report of Mandatory Chemical Testing Following a Serious Marine Incident Involving Vessels in Commercial Service have both been revised to account for the amended marine casualty property damage thresholds.

USCG: D9 Notice – Special Consideration in Authorizing Departures From Specific Requirements in Subchapter M

The U.S Coast Guard Ninth District published a notice related to Subchapter M enforcement.  The notice allows the OCMI/COTP to utilize their authority to allow special considerations for certain requirements found in Subchapter M. The cognizant OCMI may give special consideration to authorizing departures from specific requirements when unusual circumstances or arrangement warrant such departures and when an equivalent level of safety is provided.

USCG: CG-CVC Policy Letter 18-04 Guidance on Implementation of New Standards for Fire Protection, Detection, and Extinguishing Equipment

The Coast Guard office of Commercial Vessel Compliance issued CG-CVC Policy Letter 18-04 Guidance on Implementation of New Standards for Fire Protection, Detection, and Extinguishing Equipment.

This policy letter provides information and guidance to the Officer(s) in Charge, Marine Inspection (OCMI) on recent changes to regulatory requirements for fire protection, detection and extinguishing equipment used on inspected and uninspected vessels, Outer Continental Shelf facilities, deepwater ports and mobile offshore drilling units per reference (a).
