The Coast Guard Office of Commercial Vessel Compliance (CG-CVC) has issued Marine Safety Information Bulletin (MSIB) 04-22 announcing the Suspension of USCG Inspection Fees for TSMS Option – Subchapter M Towing Vessel.

MILA Training Course — Coming this July

The wait is over! TVIB has partnered with SafeMARINER, LLC and ACTion group (d/b/a ACTSafe Training) in this Coast Guard recognized Marine Internal Lead Auditor course, which is designed to teach the specific skills and knowledge necessary to conduct and lead internal audits for commercial marine companies. This fast-paced, informative course requires active participation and successfully completing practical exercises, quizzes, and a final exam in order to earn a certificate.

This course meets the requirements of ANSI Z 490.1 Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health and Environmental Training and the requirements of 46 CFR 138.310(d)(2) for those individuals performing internal audits under Subchapter M.

The course will be offered July 19th & 20th and October 25th & 26th.

SUB M ALERT: CG Update PL 20-01 (CH 1) Subchapter M Enforcement Posture

CVC-1 has revised Policy Letter 20-01 (CH 1) Subchapter M Enforcement Posture for Certificate of Inspection Phase-In Requirement – The policy letter has been revised to indicate that vessels without COIs will be issued a CG-835v with a code of 60 which will prevent the vessel from moving after July 19, 2022. Additionally, they have added provisions for civil penalties for each day the violation occurs.  This will be noted outwardly on the public-facing side of PSIX.
