Marine Internal Lead Auditor Course

Course Summary:

This course is designed to teach and practice the specific skills, knowledge and abilities needed to conduct and lead internal audits for commercial marine companies.

  • Length: Two days (16 hours)
  • Course binder and text provided
  • Maximum class size: 32, Minimum class size 10
  • This course has been recognized as “Substantially equal to an ISO 9001 auditor course by the United States Coast Guard and meets the Subchapter M requirements for internal auditor training.
  • The course meets the requirements of ANSI/ASSE Z 490.1-2016 Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, health and environmental training
  • This course is audited by a third party annually

Capt. David A. Foret, Jr., President of the ACTion group

David has over 37 years’ experience in the towing vessel industry including 12 years onboard and more than 13 years spent in shore side management before forming his own compliance firm in 1999.  He holds a Merchant Mariner Credential endorsed as Master of Towing Vessels and Tankerman-PIC (Barge) Dangerous Liquids and Liquefied Gas cargoes, TVIB-Certified AWO RCP Auditor certification, and Crew Endurance Management Systems (CEMS) Expert. He has served on the Pilot Board Investigation Review Committee (PBIRC) representing the interests of the brownwater towing vessel community for the past 17 years. Currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Towing Vessel Inspection Bureau (TVIB). Chairman of the Lone Star Harbor Safety Committee’s Navigation Operations Subcommittee. www.theagcteam.com

Tava S. Foret, Director, Audit and Survey Services of Towing Vessel Inspection Bureau

Tava brings nearly 25 years of experience in the towing vessel industry. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing, Certified Instructional Designer designation, TVIB-Certified AWO RCP Auditor certification, and Crew Endurance Management Systems (CEMS) Expert. Has served as the President on the Board of Directors for the Towing Vessel Inspection Bureau (TVIB) and formerly served on the Board of Directors for the American Waterways Operators (AWO) Association. She has served on the Towing Safety Advisory Committee’s (TSAC) Towing Vessel Inspection Workgroup and chaired the Auditor Subcommittee. Served as the Chairman for the Houston Galveston Navigation Safety Advisory Committee (HOGANSAC). www.thetvib.org
